About TTS

The idea for Triathlon Training Series began when David Crowther, an age group triathlete and successful film editor working in Hollywood, sat down with Ian Murray, a renowned multi-sport athlete and coach from Triathletix, a coaching company based in Los Angeles, to discuss a personal training program for David.

The two remarked that a high quality and comprehensive training video for triathletes just didn’t exist. Sure, there was a smattering of DVDs covering various topics of the sport; but not a complete, all-inclusive and cohesive approach to teaching a sport that most beginners find daunting, to say the least.

From there, the two brought in Jamie Silber, Ian’s business partner at Triathletix as well as an established athlete and coach, and the TTS Team was complete! In less than a year production had begun on Volume One, which consisted of the first five discs in the series.

Shot in high definition on soundstages and locations throughout Los Angeles, Triathlon Training Series was committed to bringing nothing but the best to the project. Top coaches, experts in their fields, were hand selected to lead each topic. Highly experienced and talented crew members were brought in to bring the project to life.

Two and a half years after that initial meeting Triathlon Training Series Volume One was completed. And at this time Volume Two has been filmed and is in post production. The team hopes to have it out in 2008.

What sets Triathlon Training Series apart from the rest is that it is an instructional DVD created by individuals who are passionate about the sport of triathlon and passionate about sharing their knowledge with others. Triathlon Training Series is not just a DVD box set, it’s a community dedicated to bringing the sport of triathlon to anyone who has the desire and drive to want more from a sport that has so much to offer. Where else can you email the host of an instructional DVD and actually get a response? Or interact via a forum with other athletes who have shared in watching those DVDs or with the coaches and crew members who created those DVDs?

At TTS it’s not just about selling DVDs. It’s about creating an environment and a community that can educate, support, challenge and stimulate you as an athlete. It’s about growing and learning from those athletes and changing and adapting to meet their needs. So, we invite you to take this journey with us. You, as you evolve as an athlete and us, as we evolve as a community of athletes.

Ian Murray

Co-Writer, Co-Producer

Ian grew up in Aspen where he taught and coached skiing for a decade. He changed sports after moving to Los Angeles, where he took pleasure in running, adventure racing, and mountain bike races. Ian’s first triathlon in 1996 set the hook, and in 1997 he raced over a dozen events, including his first Ironman. Even though Ian’s passion for racing still remains strong, his number one priority for the past ten years has been coaching multisport athletes at all levels. His numerous certifications and deep dedication to the sport led him to be awarded USAT’s Developmental Coach of the Year in 2007, but Ian would argue that he’s more proud of his athletes’ success than anything else.
